Asics GEL-TRANSCEND FJ "Black Coffee"
- Description
To fully understand the Asics Transcend line, here are a few details. Before the Fujitrail series, there was the Transcend range.
Launched in the Fall/Winter of 1999, this category focused on outdoor physical training. Iconic models in the line include the Gel Sandy hybrid sandal (1999), the Gel Jekyll (2001)—which combined breathability with water resistance—and the Gel Yeti (2000), designed to give feet a rest after trail running.
This new model combines a rugged, outdoor-inspired design with a city-ready silhouette. The upper features brown overlays with a brushed texture and subtle relief, while the signature Asics side stripe is created using topstitching and raised panels. Graphite grey mesh, designed for breathability, covers the collar and tongue. True to its name, the "FJ" suffix refers to the Asics Fujitrabuco, the model from which this shoe borrows its entire sole structure. Drawing inspiration from the Asics Fujitrabuco 7, it features an outsole fully clad in Asics Grip rubber, while a midsole made of a mysterious material absorbs shock.
